Exam Board Specification: AQA A Level ICT

How the course is assessed:

  • Unit 1 - INFO1 Practical Problem Solving in the Digital World
    • 25% of A Level – 1 hour 30 minutes examination
  • Unit 2 - INFO2 Living in the Digital World
    • 25% of A Level – 1 hour 30 minutes examination
  • Unit 3 - INFO3 The Use of ICT in the Digital World
    • 30% of A Level – 2 hour examination
  • INFO4 – INFO4 Coursework: Practical Issues Involved in the Use of ICT in the Digital World
    • 20% of A Level – Coursework project report

Description of course

The specification has been developed for students who wish to progress to higher education or to the world of work, where understanding how ICT can be used in society and organisations, and the implications of its use, will be a valuable asset.

Pass rate: 100%
A* - B grades: 33%
A* - C grades: 89%

Entry criteria:

Students must meet the Consortium minimum entry criteria for A Level courses, that is, a GCSE grade 4 or higher in English Language, grade 4 or higher in Maths (point score of 44.5 or higher).

To study A Level ICT, students are also required to have a GCSE grade B or equivalent in ICT or a grade 5 in English Language if no GCSE.
